It remains the capital of the Balagne region, one of the most prosperous areas of Corsica. The surrounding hills and mountains create a natural amphitheatre which is called the `Garden of Corsica'.

It is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island with a gentle slope and safe bathing in the shallow, turquoise-blue waters.
